Marimekko opens first fabric store in Japan at Shinjuku Isetan

Aug 13, 2013

Finnish lifestyle brand Marimekko's first fabric-focused concept store in Japan will open on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store on August 28th.

The store will offer interior fabrics and bed linens, as well as kitchen and bath accessories like mittens, bags, pouches, and other items made entirely from fabric. Fabrics will be sold by the roll.

To commemorate the opening, four limited-edition products will be sold, including tote bags and clasp pouches featuring the "MINI PISAROI" print designed by Maija Louekari, a particularly popular designer in Japan.

The items available at this store will be selected by Isetan. Marimekko's popular tableware will not be sold, and the store will focus on fabrics. This will be the brand's first store in Japan to feature a product lineup sourced outside of its own company.
