Karen Kirishima's limited-time shop "House of Lotus" opens at Isetan Shinjuku

Jul 30, 2013

Karen Kirishima, a versatile model, actress, and essayist, will open a limited-time select shop called "House of Lotus" on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store on July 31st. The shop will run until August 26th. The shop will carry handcrafted items from Asia and Africa, including Thai bamboo baskets, Myanmarese lacquerware, Indonesian woodwork, hand-embroidered fabrics from Chinese ethnic minorities, Moroccan rugs, Kenyan kangas, and Afghan necklaces. It also carries clothing designed by Kirishima and sewn by artisans in India. House of Lotus was originally established in a house in Motoazabu, where Kirishima used to live. It offers handcrafts, folk tools, and miscellaneous goods selected from traditional Asian crafts. The shop closed in April 2011 when Kirishima sold her Motoazabu home. Since then, the shop has hosted occasional events. This event will be the first in a year since it was held at Isetan in August last year.
