Bestate Co., Ltd., which operates hotels in Tokyo and Fukuoka, has opened a public bath cafe! Enjoy the special "marriage" of coffee brewed by baristas who have trained at renowned cafes and homemade ice cream made with fruit delivered directly from farms.

◆About Kaisaiyu

Built in 1928, Kaisaiyu has continued to operate as a local public bath where people gather and chat, beloved by generations. When you see the bandai (number counter) and painted picture of Mt. Fuji that are unique to a good old-fashioned public bathhouse, and the warning sign in the changing room that reads "Be careful before you get caught," you can picture back in time how it was bustling as a public bathhouse.

However, in November 2016, due to the deterioration of the building and facilities, it was sadly forced to close its doors as a public bath. Inheriting the owner's desire to "preserve this building, filled with people's memories, for future generations," the "rebon Kaisaiyu" project was launched.

◆The concept is "Connecting memories"

As you go through the entrance, you will see the wooden shoe lockers that remain as they are. Take off your shoes and head into the changing room area. The door on the right has "Women" written on it, and the door on the left has "Men" written on it, reminding you of its days as a changing room. Once inside, you will be greeted by warm, solid wood floors, a high coffered ceiling, and a single-plank counter covered in tiles that change colour depending on the sunlight. You can even climb up the ticket counter in the centre and take commemorative photos. Even though it's no longer a public bath, the relaxing atmosphere remains. There's a power of memory there that evokes a sense of nostalgia, not only for those who remember Kaisaiyu's past, but also for those who don't. As many people gather here, Kaisaiyu's memories will be passed on to the next generation. Whether you're chatting with friends, taking a moment to unwind, or working remotely (high-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets are available), you can spend your time at "rebon Kaisaiyu." The menu theme is "mariage." Mariage is French for "marriage" or "the pairing of food and drink." At rebon Kaisaiyu, we offer a fusion of house-roasted coffee brewed by a barista from Taito Ward who trained at renowned shops, and homemade ice cream made with fruit delivered directly from our farm. Rebon's "Marriage" is not just about combining two things, but about the magic of combining two things to enhance their appeal many times over.

◆Merchandise Sales & Events

The coffee served at our cafe is made from raw beans carefully selected by our baristas, imported from overseas, and roasted in-house using a dedicated roaster installed in-store. Roasted coffee beans are available for sale in-store. They are perfect for coffee time at home or as a small gift. We are also planning to offer wholesale beans for B2B, so please feel free to contact us if you are an interested business.

The cafe space can also be used as an event space for exhibitions, product fairs, seminars, and other events. Why not hold an event in collaboration with this space, which has the power to inspire conversation? We are currently planning everything from product fairs organized by local governments to unusual events such as silent DJ festivals. If you are considering using the facility for an event, please make a reservation through the rebon Kaisaiyu website.

We will mark a new chapter as rebon, passing on the memories of Kaisaiyu, a place beloved by many, to the next generation. Please enjoy the marriage of our story-filled space and our proud coffee and ice cream.
