The "Brilliant Pearl Necklace" exhibition will be held at the Mikimoto Ginza flagship store. Valuable archives, including antique jewelry and pre-war catalogs, will be on display.

Mar 7, 2013

Starting March 22nd, Mikimoto will hold the "Pearl Necklaces Weaving Brilliance" exhibition at its Ginza flagship store to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the invention of pearls.

This exhibition will unravel the history of pearls with a focus on pearl necklaces. Valuable archives will be on display, including jewelry auction catalogs and design drawings from the era of natural pearls, antique jewelry from around 1900, necklaces from when cultured pearls first came into circulation, Mikimoto advertisements that established the current belief that "pearl necklaces are a must for weddings," and catalogs documenting the popularity of pearl necklaces overseas after the war. Also on display will be a new style of pearl necklace, created specially for this exhibition, in which pearls are worn like a dress.
