Coach has announced a collaboration doll with Mattel's Barbie. A limited number of Coach Barbie dolls will be released in September. Coach Barbie is part of the Barbie Collector line, developed for adult women. It will be released first at Coach Omotesando on September 7th, followed by Coach Umeda Hankyu on the 14th, all nine Coach flagship stores and the official online store on the 15th, and official Barbie Collector stores nationwide on the 20th. A total of 13,000 dolls will be produced worldwide, with only 850 sold in Japan. The doll will be priced at ¥16,800. To commemorate the collaboration, a web campaign titled "Barbie's Dream Bag" will begin on August 21st. Vote on Coach Japan's official Facebook page to choose the bag Barbie will carry from four available designs. One lucky winner will receive a Coach bag, and two will receive a Coach Barbie and a set of three non-sale mini Coach bags. Applications are open until the 27th. The bag actually chosen by Coach Barbie will be announced on Coach's website and Facebook page after the campaign ends.
Barbie Collector has previously collaborated with Christian Dior, Versace, and Ralph Lauren, expressing the worldview of each brand through designs that pay attention to detail not only in the clothes and accessories but also in the hairstyles and makeup.
