A pop-up event for Moulin Roty, a long-established French toy brand, is being held on the 6th floor children's clothing section of Isetan Shinjuku until August 13th. The venue recreates Moulin Roty's baby room design, featuring colorful toys, cribs, chests, and pole hangers. The babywear line, which debuted in Spring/Summer 2013, will also be available for the first time in Japan. Made from the same fabric as the popular Les Jolis pas Beaux plush toy series, the line includes rompers, dresses, T-shirts, and blouses. Moulin Roty is so well-known in France that the first thing anyone thinks of when a baby is born is a Mulan plush toy. Each character is made with a variety of fabrics, and the soft, gentle texture of these plush toys has earned them popularity not only in France but around the world. The fabric is made in France. Moulin Roty was founded in 1972 in the countryside of Brittany, about 20km north of Nantes, a city on the Loire River in western France. A group of students who hated the city gathered together and lived a self-sufficient life on a farm, selling their homemade art and crafts at markets. This caught the eye of a German buyer, who led them to begin full-scale toy production. Today, they sell approximately 1.5 million products in over 40 countries around the world.
