Coach has launched "WE C YOU," a campaign celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in celebration of Pride Month. Featuring Coach friends and family, including Kim Petras, Rickey Thompson and Bob the Drag Queen, the campaign advocates for everyone to be seen in their own unique light and supports Coach's values of authentic self-expression and inclusivity.
Created by the LGBTQ+ community, for the LGBTQ+ community, and launched across Coach's social media channels, the campaign includes a series of films shot by the cast on GoPro action cameras and smartphone cameras during the COVID-19 crisis and directed remotely by New York-based art director, photographer, and activist Christelle de Castro. In the films, each cast member shares their thoughts on how they feel perceived. With a powerful message about the LGBTQ+ community, encouraging support for one another and staying true to yourself, this film series emphasizes the importance of standing out in challenging times and living your powerful, authentic self, no matter who you are or where you are.
Additionally, to support the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate pride, the Coach Foundation, which develops "Dream It Real," a program committed to helping young people around the world create the future they believe is possible, has made donations as part of this initiative to the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), a seven-year partner of Coach, and new partners GLSEN and the Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT).
"We are thrilled to partner with Coach to create this new film series," said Carlos Becil, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Coach. "We're proud to continue our longstanding support of the LGBTQ+ community this month and every month with this courageous and optimistic film series. The campaign's message of inclusivity and authentic self-expression is very close to our hearts, and we're honored to be able to bring this message to life by working with creative talent from the LGBTQ+ community," said Bridget Hughes, Chief Program Officer at HMI. "We're thrilled to work with our longtime partner, Coach, to demonstrate the importance of representing queer experiences. LGBTQ+ youth who experience positive images of LGBTQ+ adults are inspired to embrace and be proud of their LGBTQ+ identities. As an organization, our roots lie in youth empowerment, which is why we started by celebrating our unique community experiences."
To create the campaign, Coach also collaborated with Masami Hosono, Laura Chautin, Sinia Braxton, Matthew Mazur, Nar Rokh, and three youth from HMI: Jhad Aird, Ochan Ohak, and Mia Martine.
Coach is also celebrating Pride with the launch of its first-ever cross-category, full-range Coach "Pride Collection." The gender-inclusive collection features the iconic signature pattern in rainbow colors and includes the Academy backpack and belt bag, as well as T-shirts and sandals.
