A fantastical beer garden opens on the roof of the 80-year-old Ashiya Monolith, a significant structure

Jun 3, 2015

The rooftop of the historic Western-style building "Ashiya Monolith: Former Ministry of Communications Ashiya Annex" (5-23 Omasu-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture), designated as an Important Landscape Building of Hyogo Prefecture, will be open to the public. A limited-time beer garden, "ASIAN BEER," will open from June 5th to September 27th. This year marks the fourth anniversary of the event, and its fantastical and romantic atmosphere lit by oil lamps has made it a popular "adult beer garden" where visitors can enjoy a premium experience. The rooftop, open to the public this time, will have 20 comfortable sofas and 80 tables. The all-you-can-eat buffet will feature approximately 15 dishes, mainly spicy Asian summer dishes from Thailand and Vietnam, as well as eight types of meat and grilled dishes, all grilled by the chef himself over charcoal. The all-you-can-drink option also includes a wide variety of drinks, including beer, soft drinks, red and white wine, whiskey, shochu, sours, and cocktails made with liqueurs such as cassis and Campari, making it a great option for women. The price, including all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink, is 5,000 yen (tax included) for two hours.
