Michael Jackson was born on August 29th, 1958, to a large family in Gary, Indiana, an industrial city in the western United States. Debuting in 1969 as the youngest lead singer of the five-member brother group "The Jackson 5," Jackson immediately became a superstar, achieving the record of four consecutive number one singles.
Later, as a solo artist, his 1982 album "Thriller" topped the US charts for 37 consecutive weeks and achieved the remarkable feat of winning eight Grammy Awards at the 26th Annual Grammy Awards. As the music industry reached its peak in the 1980s and 1990s, Michael Jackson revolutionized music videos, which had previously been called "promotional videos" and perceived as mere advertising material, by redefining them as "short films" and elevating them to works of art.
His visuals, which beautifully blended with the music, his exceptional dance performances, and his talent as a director laid the foundation for today's music scene, in which visual imagery plays an essential role. His achievements have earned him the reputation of being "the most successful entertainer of all time." Ten years have passed since his death on June 25, 2009, and he continues to captivate countless fans, including younger generations unfamiliar with his work.
This exhibition examines the role that video and photography have played in the development of music to this day, showcasing archive stills from Michael Jackson's most iconic works and stunning live performances from three world tours that captivated fans worldwide.

Chapter 1
At just five years old, Jackson formed the Jackson 5 with his four older brothers as lead vocalist. After a spectacular debut on the prestigious Motown label, his talent as a songwriter and composer blossomed during his late teens with The Jacksons. He also achieved record-breaking success and innovation in his solo career. This chapter interweaves stills from the "short films" (music videos) of his signature songs, including "Thriller," "Beat It," and "Bad," and retraces the footsteps of Michael Jackson, who soared to the pinnacle of the global entertainment world through live performances and video.

Chapter 2
Michael Jackson's live performances captivated the world and changed the very definition of the "concert" that followed. From his first solo tour, the "Bad World Tour," which kicked off in Japan and performed 123 shows in 15 countries, to the more dynamic "Dangerous World Tour," and the "History World Tour," which drew a record-breaking 4.5 million people, this chapter will showcase a collection of rare performance photos from all three world tours.
