PARCO Co., Ltd. is planning to hold the "Nakamura Asumiko 20th Anniversary Exhibition" at PARCO FACTORY on the 7th floor of Ikebukuro PARCO Main Building in the fall of 2020. This exhibition explores the works of acclaimed manga artist Asumiko Nakamura, known for her signature "Classmates" series, over the past 20 years since her debut, providing a rich insight into her work, behind-the-scenes creative process, and worldview. From her early short stories to "All About J," the "Classmates" series, "Kingdom Story," and "Mejirobana Blooms," the exhibition will feature rare materials such as manuscripts, original drawings, plots, and rough sketches selected by Asumiko herself, revealing her creative process. The main visual, created specially for this exhibition, features characters from her works and the number "20," conveying her special feelings about her 20th anniversary. A variety of commemorative merchandise will also be available for purchase at the venue. In conjunction with the exhibition, Cafe Address on the 6th floor of Ikebukuro PARCO Main Building will also be offering a limited-time collaboration menu showcasing the worldview of her works.

Exhibition Content
 
This exhibition explores the behind-the-scenes creative process and worldview of Asumiko Nakamura through her major works since her debut. The artist herself will select and explain iconic scenes from popular titles, and the exhibition will focus on manuscripts and illustrations. In addition to sketches, plots, and storyboards that introduce the creative process, valuable materials such as favorite books and records from her student days, which were the starting point for shaping her current artistic world, will also be on display. There will also be photo spots for "All About J" and "Classmates," where visitors can take photos with the main characters' standees.

It's often said that when you think about it, you've come a long way, but when I look back on the days that have passed so quickly, they seem so fleeting, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to retrace my footsteps in detail. I'd be thrilled if you'd accompany me on this humble journey as a manga artist.
 
 
About Nakamura Asumiko (Profile)
 
Originally from Kanagawa Prefecture, Nakamura made her debut in 2000 with "Coffee with Sugar, Love at the Window" in Manga F (later Manga Erotics F). Since then, she has used beautiful, lustrous lines to depict the humanity that lies deep within the human heart. From sensual stories to refreshing coming-of-age tales to dramatic boys' love, she has produced a wealth of captivating works, garnering a passionate following, especially among women.
In 2016, "Classmates" (published by Akaneshinsha) was made into an anime and released in theaters. In 2017, "Double Mints" (published by Akaneshinsha) was made into a live-action film. This year, "Kingdom Story" (published by Shueisha) was selected as a recommended work by the jury in the Manga Division of the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival, organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He is currently serializing "blanc" in the comic magazine "OPERA" (published by Akaneshinsha), "Kingdom Story" in "Ultra Jump" (published by Shueisha), and "Mejirobana no Saku" in "Rakuen" (published by Hakusensha).
