Gucci will open the Gucci Ginza Gallery, a new space celebrating art, creativity, and cultural collaborations, on the upper floors of its flagship Gucci Ginza store in Tokyo's Ginza district. The gallery will offer unique experiences through special exhibitions that embody Gucci's core values of craftsmanship and innovation, while fostering connections with artists and creators from Japan and around the world. The opening will feature an exclusive photo exhibition, "YUZURU HANYU: A JOURNEY BEYOND DREAMS featured by ELLE," featuring figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu. Since taking up skating at age four, Hanyu has constantly challenged himself, achieving remarkable growth both as an athlete and as a person. One year after turning professional in July 2022, and embarking on a new path, he embarked on his first full-scale fashion portrait shoot, dressed in Gucci, for the August issue of fashion magazine ELLE Japon. The photos were taken by TAKAY, a Tokyo- and New York-based photographer who works globally, from international fashion magazines to global campaigns. Opening on the same day as the August issue of ELLE Japon, the exhibition will showcase images from the magazine alongside works capturing Hanyu's diverse expressions, available exclusively at the Gucci Ginza Gallery, illuminating his extraordinary talent from a new perspective.

The exhibition will be held in a minimalist space, transforming one floor of the 7th floor of Gucci Ginza into an authentic white cube gallery, designed to highlight the individuality of each work. The series of dynamic photographs makes it seem as if the skater is moving right before your eyes, and visuals that capture his stunning physicality as he dominates the space, as well as close-up photographs that convey a soft, atmospheric feeling that gives a glimpse into his inner self, allow the viewer to experience a personal encounter with the very being that is Yuzuru Hanyu, through this multifaceted approach.

Yuzuru Hanyu had the following to say about this shoot and photo exhibition: "During the shoot, I was able to make use of the emotional expression and arm movements I have cultivated through figure skating, and it was a fulfilling feeling, just like when I perform to my satisfaction on the ice. I hope that the photo exhibition will allow visitors to discover a new side of Yuzuru Hanyu wearing Gucci."
