Artist Yugo Yoshikawa's first multimedia exhibition, "Le voyage de Taka et Yukimi - Taka and Yukimi's Adventure Journey," will run from June 26th to July 20th at the Chanel Nexus Hall in Ginza, Tokyo. Yugo Yoshikawa is an up-and-coming artist whose diverse creative practice transcends the boundaries of illustration, manga, and drawing. Born to a Japanese father and a French mother, he has lived in various countries since childhood, and his international upbringing gives him a global perspective that allows him to continue to create unique works. The exhibition, themed around "travel," follows the world travels of Taka, Yoshikawa's alter-ego, and his childhood friend Yukimi. The exhibition follows the footsteps of the two characters, who appear in manga and 3D art, while showcasing a variety of visuals based on Yoshikawa's unique interpretations of global cities, including London and Paris. A highlight of the exhibition is the three-meter-long masterpiece "Somewhere in Central London," which encapsulates the allure of pen and brush. The New Bond Street neighborhood in London, where Yoshikawa currently lives and works, is recreated with meticulous detail and a dynamic touch reminiscent of the video game "SimCity."
This time, Yoshikawa goes beyond the realm of his previous ink- and watercolor-based illustrations to experiment with a variety of new and old media, from animation to Instagram, blueprints, and 3D printers. Through dynamic compositions that connect the two-dimensional and three-dimensional, still and moving images, and fantasy and reality, visitors can fully enjoy an unconventional worldview.
