The 2nd CAF Award Exhibition will be held at 3331Arts Chiyoda in Kanda, Tokyo, from May 23rd to 24th. The exhibition showcases the winning works of the CAF (Contemporary Art Foundation) Award, a student competition launched last year with the aim of revitalizing contemporary art in Japan and supporting student creative activities. The exhibition welcomed paintings, sculptures, and video works from high school, university, graduate, and vocational school students across Japan, and will feature 25 works by 23 artists selected from hundreds of submissions. Following last year's selection, the judging panel is comprised of artist Kohei Nawa, Teiya Iwabuchi, editor-in-chief of the monthly art magazine Bijutsu Techo, Kenjiro Hosaka, chief researcher at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, and art producer Hiromi Yamaguchi. The grand prize winner, selected from the 23 entries, will receive a 500,000 yen prize and an additional 500,000 yen for overseas study travel expenses. In addition, two winners of the Excellence Award will receive a prize of 200,000 yen, and four winners of the Jury Special Award will receive a prize of 100,000 yen.
The exhibition is run by the Contemporary Art Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation of which Yusaku Maezawa is chairman. Maezawa is also the representative director of Start Today, which operates the fashion e-commerce site ZOZOTOWN.
