FENDI's Spring/Summer 2018 Men's Collection was unveiled in Milan on June 19th. A model emerged from an elevator door sporting a modern executive's office style. He wore a clerical shirt with a geometallic tie, beautifully tailored leather, and a mountain parka. In keeping with the theme of "Fendi Fridays," the collection exuded a quiet sense of exhilaration, moving from the office to a party and then to the resort. The double-F logo adorned the chest of a work jacket, and continued on the belt buckle, the hem of the jacket, and the pants, evoking the 1980s bubble era. Laser-cut sleeveless shirts, nylon hoodies, shorts, and sweatshirts with a desk lamp emblazoned across the chest added a sense of ease to the otherwise impersonal style. The image, featuring motifs of coffee cups, bananas, and telephones, also appeared on bags and shirts. It was the work of British artist Sue Tilley, who, along with Leigh Bowery, was a prominent figure in London's 1980s nightclub scene.
Among the items mainly in sandy colors such as beige and brown, what caught the eye was a series of checked organza coats, jackets and shorts. These transparent checked items and back-strap loafers are likely to attract attention as new Fendi icons for spring and summer.
