Moncler Gamme Bleu's Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection was unveiled in Milan on January 15th. Each season, the brand showcases a distinct, elaborate depiction of a sporting scene, and this season's theme was mountain climbing. Snow fell on the show venue, and models connected by rock climbing ropes created a path down the runway. The models marched through the snow, walking at an extremely slow pace. A closer look revealed that even their pants were connected by rope, like bondage pants, and various climbing ropes bound their entire bodies with carabiners and loops hidden within the garments. Each piece featured a climbing rope graphic, with nearly diagonal stripes incorporated into tailored pieces such as jackets, suit jackets, chester coats, and pea coats. The techniques used were varied, including tweed, jacquard, bouclé, intarsia, and wool prints, and the functionality and luxury of down items were lightly layered with blends of technical materials and cashmere. Oversized bomber jackets and jumpsuits, cotton corduroy, cotton twill, and sheer nylon jackets were also fresh additions.
After the show, the models remained in the venue, and an installation-style presentation allowing visitors to take photos was also established, providing excitement for the revelation of Thom Browne's magic.
