
From February 1st to 12th, the "Koto Exhibition: Kyoto, 100 Gifts" will be held at Kotomonomichi at TOKYO in Aoyama, Tokyo.
The eighth "Koto Exhibition" will showcase works created with the utmost care by Kyoto artisans, with a theme of "gifts." From small gifts for friends to gifts for those who have helped you, gifts for various occasions will be on display and for sale. The lineup of items includes floral mugs, couple's tea bowls, gold-decorated chopstick rests, and paper-based mother-of-pearl earrings, as well as pendants, combs, and vases. A total of 100 pieces, filled with the passion of the exhibitors, will be on display.
In addition, a workshop titled "Making Accessories and Compacts with Gold Leaf" will be held on February 4th from 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM, where participants can try their hand at gold leaf processing. Participants will choose scraps of kimono and a template with the pattern they want to use, and then gold-leaf the fabric to create hair ties, corsages, brooches, pins, and mirrors. Each session is limited to four people, and the participation fee is 4,000 yen. From 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on February 5th, a workshop will be held to create their own "My Gurumi" based on the production manual for "Yama Gurumi," an original stuffed animal created by artist Yamasaki Asahiko. The workshop is limited to six people and costs 2,000 yen. From 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on February 12th, participants will be able to make brooches using Japanese-made braided cord "Braided Wire" and Italian metal "Free Metallico." The workshop is limited to five people, and the prices are 2,500 yen for "Flower" and 4,500 yen for "Butterfly."
