Ermenegildo Zegna, which welcomes back Alessandro Sartori as artistic director, presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection in Milan on January 11th. While the brand has traditionally presented its collection on the first day of Milan Men's Fashion Week each season, this time it moved up a day to the final Friday night of Pitti Uomo. The venue featured a giant artwork by contemporary artist Anselm Kiefer, and a herringbone pattern created on the floor with metallic bars, adding a touch of elegance to the Milan Men's celebrations. The collection showcased an effortless, urban wardrobe, lavishly crafted with breathtakingly luxurious materials. Everything was light and simple, highlighting an elegance that transcends age and culture. The tops feature a strong shoulder line, while the bottoms, ranging from joggers to loose-fitting wool pants, are presented in soft silhouettes.
The colors range from pale gray to camel, brick, and blue, creating a combination of earthy monochromatic tones. The collection makes the most of the company's DNA as a world-class materials manufacturer, featuring materials such as "Casentino" cashmere and alpaca felt, felted cashmere jersey, paper-thin baby calfskin, geometric cashmere silk jacquard knits, and wool and nylon quilting. While making the most of the company's DNA as a world-class materials manufacturer, this new expression, which tucks classic elements into the background, was greeted with thunderous applause by Milanista fans.
Some of the lines presented in this collection are "made to measure" and can be ordered through global shops with a six-week lead time, addressing the global trend of "see now, buy now."
