For the Spring/Summer 2013 season, Shiroma presented a collection that mixed futuristic and grunge elements, based on the theme of "LIGHTNING TRIP." The first look, which appeared on a V-shaped runway amid flashes of lightning and techno music, featured a lightning-inspired graphic print of chiffon tops and shorts, paired with metallic sandals. The lightning image was expanded in various ways, evolving into gray, black, and blue and green. It was further expanded to include a fabric that expressed light through inkjet printing and foil. The pieces were tailored with sharp cuts that linked to the theme, creating silhouettes that maintained a sharp drape. The brand also paid particular attention to the materials used, using salt-shrunk washi paper to create a crocodile-like fabric, which was used in Shiroma's signature deerskin items as well as coats.
Director Nishiie Yasutaka said, "We combined a ray of light with a grunge feel to create the look of lightning. Futuristic might give the impression of sci-fi, but we aimed to create clothes that would look cool when worn in real life." He continues to create clothes with a sense of realism. Sales are also said to be on the rise.
