To celebrate the remodeled opening on March 4th, a special exhibition titled "LIFE LIVE LOVE" will be held on the 5th floor living area of Isetan Shinjuku.
This special exhibition will feature limited-edition living items from minä perhonen, designed by Akira Minagawa. Additionally, a collaboration with Fumiko Sakuhara, an interior stylist active in numerous magazines, including Vogue Nippon and Elle Deco, will be held. Furniture and interior accessories selected by her will be combined to create a "living space" for a new life.
The venue will also feature "Knots and Fragments," a patchwork of leftover minä perhonen fabric on the "HIROSHIMA Armchair" by Naoto Fukasawa, made with knotty materials that would otherwise never be released to the public. This is the second installment of the series, first released in the fall of 2013. This time, the leftover fabric was selected with a "forest" theme and is available in three colors, each corresponding to a different tree species. Regarding this collaboration, Akira Minagawa commented, "To enrich your daily life and create your own unique space, you need to incorporate a variety of inspiring items. Through my collaboration with Sakuhara, I hope to propose such a wonderful lifestyle." Meanwhile, Fumiko Sakuhara said, "Sometimes, everyday items like aprons and shirts look more beautiful simply hung on a hook or casually placed on a chair. I think decorating your home will be more enjoyable if you consider the universal context and reality of the item, as well as the creator's awareness and sensibility, as criteria for making your decisions." Also on the same floor, the Japanese goods section will be selling original Isetan Shinjuku tea caddies (15,000 yen, 14,000 yen), a collaboration between minä perhonen and Kaikado. Popular both domestically and internationally, Kaikado, founded in 1875, is Japan's oldest tea caddy maker. The handmade process ensures a high level of airtightness, and the color changes over time with continued use. The peacock and butterfly design by Mina Perhonen makes it a design that you will want to take outside and show off during the spring cherry blossom viewing and picnic season.
