Ultraman becomes a Kutani ware object. A select shop of Japanese and international crafts opens at Shinjuku Isetan

Jan 27, 2015

A select shop selling Japanese and international crafts will open at the Isetan Shinjuku store.

The select shop will regularly exhibit works by approximately 60 artists, studios, and other groups from Japan and abroad, aiming to convey the appeal of rare crafts through a modern sensibility. As part of the opening event, from March 4th to 24th, an "Ultraman" object will be exhibited, featuring gorgeous painting techniques by a Kutani ware artist.

The details of the heroes and monsters are vividly depicted using techniques such as red enamel, flower-filled porcelain, and light grass patterns. Of particular note is Ultraman, whose figure is cutely adorned with intricate blue grain porcelain.

In addition, the Isetan Shinjuku store will celebrate the grand opening of the 5th floor Living Room on March 4th. To coincide with this, a shop specializing in this craft will open in the West Park area on the same floor.
