Following on from last year, the "Nihonbashi Sakura Festival - Beautiful Nihonbashi" will be held again this year from March 6th to April 12th.
During the festival, a "Hanami Stage" will be set up on Nakadori Street facing Coredo Muromachi, a first for the event. This will represent the blossoms in full bloom using LED lighting and ornaments. Along with paper lanterns and paper lanterns, an artistic Sakura Kaido will be created. In conjunction with this, buildings at Mitsui Main Building and Coredo Muromachi will be lit up with a cherry blossom motif.
In addition, a "Night Cherry Blossom Open Bar" will be held on March 28th and 29th. Restaurants in Coredo Muromachi, mainly member stores of the Nihonbashi Food and Beverage Association, "Nihonbashi Sanshi-kai," will set up stalls. The following day, from March 30th to April 5th, the "Nihonbashi Sakura Bar 2015" will be held. Purchase a set of three tickets (¥3,300 on the day, ¥2,900 in advance), and each ticket will be valid for dining or shopping. Tickets can be used at approximately 50 establishments in Coredo Muromachi and the surrounding area, including popular establishments like Bistro Ishikawatei. Various collaborative events are planned around the Nihonbashi area during the event. Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall's "Eating Art Exhibition" will be held from March 6th to 24th, featuring an experiential art event themed on gourmet food, showcasing the world of Kitaoji Rosanjin. One of the highlights is a projection mapping installation, projecting seasonal dishes from top-class restaurants onto a blank plate. Visitors can also experience the essence of Japanese cuisine, with limited-edition menus offered by renowned restaurants beloved by Rosanjin during his lifetime, such as Ginza Kyubey and Kioicho Fukudaya. There will also be a virtual counter where you can experience Japanese hospitality.
In addition, Coredo Muromachi will be hosting "COREDO SAKURA WEEKS," which will feature cherry blossom-themed Japanese sweets and goods. There will also be events such as an exhibition by candy sculptors, the "OMOTENASHI Experience," where you can enjoy making cherry blossom sweets and playing with geisha, and kimono dressing lessons.
In addition, during the period, the "Nihonbashi Sakura Bus" and "Nihonbashi Sakura Taxi," decorated with spring-like designs, will operate around Nihonbashi. As part of the "Nihonbashi Sakura Stamp Rally," the first 1,000 people to arrive each day will receive an original hand towel.
