Bally launches new Goodyear construction shoe, lightest ever

Feb 21, 2015

BALLY has released the "Scribe Novo Light," the brand's lightest Goodyear-welded collection to date, exclusively at its Ginza store.

The "Scribe" is a men's dress shoe released in 1951 using a last developed by Max, the grandson of founder Carl Franz Bally. It has garnered acclaim for its precise stitching and brogue details. The cork midsole and cotton thread used for stitching are all natural materials.

The "Scribe Novo Light" features a carefully crafted rubber sole that combines style, grip, and comfort. The rubber sole absorbs shock, reducing strain on the body. Four items will be available in Japan for the Spring/Summer 2015 season, including the "Score" (plain calfskin/¥115,000), a classic slip-on loafer with a Bally twist, and the "Scavone" (shiny calfskin/¥123,000), a Chelsea boot that pairs well with both formal and casual occasions. They are crafted from high-quality leathers that have been hand-polished, as well as exotic skins such as caiman and varano. Also available in Japan are two items from the "Scribe Novo" collection, released in 2014: the classic lace-up "Scanio" (plain calfskin/¥115,000, caiman/¥418,000) and the monk wrap "Scardino" (caiman/¥418,000). This collection drew attention for its more contemporary design than previous "Scribe" collections, such as the use of a pointed last.
