Seiko Watch Corporation will release a limited-edition model from the Credor Art Piece Collection, featuring a lacquered dial and mother-of-pearl inlay, on February 10th.

A new expression combining advanced lacquerware techniques with contemporary design
The design theme is "Ryusei Raden" (Shooting Star Mother-of-Pearl). Using the skills of lacquer artist Isshu Tamura, the dial depicts a scene of countless stars streaming across a pitch-black night sky. This model combines traditional mother-of-pearl inlay with a modern design. The countless stars radiating outward, like a meteor shower, are vividly depicted through the various colors unique to the mother-of-pearl shells. The shells used are just 0.2mm wide. Cut to this ultra-thin size using cutting-edge processing technology and skilled handiwork.

The mother-of-pearl inlay that forms the hour markers is made of mother-of-pearl, which has a bright shine that stands out against the jet-black dial, ensuring excellent legibility. The other mother-of-pearl inlay is made of luminous turban shell, which emits a variety of colors, expressing the fleeting glow of a meteor sparkling and disappearing in the night sky. You can fully enjoy the intricate craftsmanship of our artisans.

An ultra-thin movement worthy of a luxury mechanical watch

The watch is powered by the ultra-thin mechanical movement "Caliber 6890," measuring just 1.98mm thick. The 68 series movement was developed for Japan's finest dress watches, pursuing not only horological performance but also artistic value and beauty. At the Shizukuishi Luxury Watch Workshop (※1), highly skilled watchmakers handle every step of the process, from assembly and adjustment to casing. Since shape correction and adjustment of each individual component and gap (the necessary gap between components) require precision down to 1/100th of a millimeter, the final finishing touches are left to the watchmaker's dexterity. This is a low-volume production movement, with a single skilled watchmaker assembling only one or two per day. The see-through case back allows you to enjoy the beautiful movement, featuring tempered screws with a striking deep, vibrant blue finish (*2).

Credor was born in 1974 as a brand of high-end dress watches, rich in individuality, crafted with Japanese sensibilities and exquisite craftsmanship. True to its name, which means "créte d'or" (golden peak) in French, the brand continues to preserve its beauty and quality by applying the techniques of master craftsmen to carefully selected materials, from the movement to each and every small component.

Located within Morioka Seiko Instruments Inc. (Shizukuishi Town, Iwate County, Iwate Prefecture), the workshop handles everything from parts manufacturing to assembly. Established in 2004, it is one of Japan's leading workshops specializing in high-end mechanical watches.

(※2) Temper Finish
This refers to the blue color of the oxide film that forms on the surface of iron during heating. The color of the oxide film varies greatly depending on the temperature and heating time, so the firing must be stopped as soon as it reaches a deep, vibrant blue. Each piece is carefully hand-polished by skilled artisans before being fired to ensure uniform color.
