BRAND HISTORY

A watch brand of overwhelming prestige and sophistication

Patek Philippe, a manufacturer that inherits the great Genevan watchmaking tradition, was founded in 1839 by Polish-born Antoine Norbert de Patek and François Czapek as "Patek, Czapek & Co." In 1845, French watchmaker Jean-Adrien Philippe replaced Czapek as engineer, and in 1851 he became an official partner, giving birth to the company that continues to this day, Patek Philippe.

The first Swiss wristwatch, made for Countess Koskovich of Hungary

Patek Philippe began to attract attention with its innovative timepieces, including numerous complicated watches, and won acclaim from world leaders, including Queen Victoria of England, at the Great Exhibition held in London that same year. In 1868, the Maison produced the first Swiss wristwatch for Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. Its exceptional technical prowess and beautiful designs captivated royalty and aristocracy, while expanding its sales channels worldwide.

Even after ownership of the Maison was transferred to the Stern family in 1932, the Maison continued to faithfully uphold its founder's vision, pursuing innovation and artistry. Today, the Maison enjoys complete creative freedom to develop, design, and manufacture timepieces recognized by experts. This is made possible by its independent, family-run business. Its freedom to forge its own path without interference and to make decisions based on long-term strategies sets it apart in the world of watchmaking.

Its timeless, simple and elegant style, while incorporating cutting-edge technological achievements, has always been regarded as a model of classic design and is recognized as something special.
