Issey Miyake's "HaaT" archive exhibition, showcasing the appeal of textiles, travels to Fukuoka

May 14, 2015

HaaT, a brand developed by ISSEY MIYAKE INC., will hold a special exhibition focusing on textiles made in Japan, "Heart in HaaT," from May 21st to 27th at the Resola Hall on the 5th floor of Resola Tenjin in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka City, as a traveling exhibition following last year's Tokyo exhibition.

HaaT is a brand launched in 2000 by textile designer Makiko Minagawa and the HaaT Planning Team. Since its founding, the brand has been committed to textiles made in Japan, and has worked with Japanese production centers to apply newly developed techniques to contemporary clothing.

This exhibition is a traveling exhibition held in Tokyo last August, and will showcase the appeal of new textiles developed each season through carefully selected clothing and accessories from the brand's 15-year archive, from AW 00 to the latest AW 14. The exhibition will introduce textile production techniques from an unprecedented approach, with visitors being able to see the details of the threads and techniques enlarged like a magnifying glass, and exhibits inspired by drops and water droplets.

A talk event is scheduled to take place on the 23rd from 2pm. The exhibition is also planned to tour Osaka in August.
