On April 22nd, ISSEY MIYAKE PARFUMS released three men's fragrances themed around "Expedition." The three fragrances were inspired by the exhilaration of dreaming about travel and were inspired by the concept of "what if a modern perfumer became an explorer challenging the limits of their creativity?" One of the fragrances, "L'EAU D'ISSEY POUR HOMME OCEANIC EXPEDITION EAU DE TOILETTE" (75ml/7,700 yen, 125ml/10,500 yen), evokes the exhilaration of crossing the ocean. The simple structure of the fragrance smoothly unfolds the natural vitality of the sea breeze, the white spray of the waves, and the refreshing feeling of light. The refreshing, effervescent scent of grapefruit, petitgrain, and bergamot evokes this fresh air. Furthermore, zest represents the ozone in the air, cascarone represents the freshness, and white musk represents the cottony mist. These scents are further enhanced by neroli and ginger.
Meanwhile, L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Sport Polar Expedition Eau de Toilette (100ml/9,900 yen) was inspired by a documentary film directed by photographer and explorer Sebastian Copeland. The flavors recreate the intrepidness of the ice fields, the overwhelming silence of a mist-covered landscape, the pure air, and the icy cold.
The base is Alaskan cedar, discovered on Nootka Island off the coast of Vancouver. To this are added the "frigid" flavors of citron caviar, which represents the acidity of the vodka poured in, the bone-chilling cold, and the refreshing cypress. Furthermore, the image of the iceberg on top of Ivernal is reminiscent of the intense glow of grapefruit rind.
Nuit d'Issey Austral Expedition Eau de Toilette (75ml/7,700 yen, 125ml/10,500 yen) evokes a mysterious night in the isolated Antarctic, where expansive ice fields, lakes, and forests lined with giant trees are softly illuminated by the aurora.
Lime and spicy coriander evoke the icy night that dominates this landscape. Gentian adds a sharp chill, while amberwood and vetiver express the frozen forest.
