Issey Miyake's HaaT launches the ultimate black "Ultimate Black" series

Jan 31, 2014

The "Ultimate Black" series will be introduced in the 14SS collection of HaaT, a brand developed by ISSEY MIYAKE INC., starting February 1st.
Ultimate Black was inspired by the black crested kimono, which has been considered formal attire since the Edo period. The items feature a special "deep black" dyeing technique that was developed during a time when Japanese artisans competed to dye their fabrics in the darkest black. This technique was apparently born when a Kyoto artisan accidentally spilled an egg on fabric, causing the spot to become even darker. HaaT is showcasing this deep black dyeing process in its signature textiles and designs.
The lineup includes a jacket (71,400 yen), a dress (68,250 yen), a cardigan (57,750 yen), and pants (50,400 yen). It will be available in stores nationwide from February 1st, and a special promotion will be held at Isetan Shinjuku store's 4th floor Center Park/The Stage #4 from February 12th to 17th.
