Ginza's "New Melsa" will be renovated and reopen as "Exit Melsa" in September

May 27, 2015

New Melsa, a commercial facility in Tokyo's Ginza district, has revamped its name and logo, and will reopen as EXIT MELSA on September 18th.
The new name comes from "EXIT," which means "exit" in English. Based on the idea that "an exit is always a gateway to another world," the new name conveys the message of escaping from everyday values and regaining one's true self. It also represents both an "exit" from the Melsa of the past and an entrance to a new Melsa.
Exit Melsa's main target is creative women in their 30s who are leaders of a new era, prioritizing nature over extravagance, quality over luxury, and individuality over authority. The tenants will fit the concept of "casual elegance." In the fashion industry, the area will see the opening of its first Japanese store, the Italian comfort shoe brand "The FLEXX," and "Maker's Shirt Kamakura," a company founded in Kamakura in 1993 that sells high-quality Japanese-made shirts at low prices. In the restaurant industry, "Shibuya Rogosky," Japan's first Russian restaurant and a long-time Shibuya favorite, will open its first Ginza location. The restaurant will offer a menu that can only be enjoyed here, focusing on Russian and Eastern European wines. "RACINES Meatball & Farmshop," a new business concept by the popular restaurant "RACINES," is also scheduled to open in Ginza for the first time. Furthermore, "Laox Ginza MELSA," one of Ginza's largest comprehensive duty-free stores, will also open. With a wide selection of products, mainly made in Japan, language support available in four languages at all times, and fast cash register operations, it looks set to be a place where you can enjoy shopping comfortably.
