Takahashi Kyota is an artist who explores the possibilities of light by skillfully manipulating lighting and video. His work spans a wide range, from the snow art project "Gift for Frozen Village," held annually since 2011 in Echigo-Tsumari, Niigata, and the interactive light-up "Fruit of Light," to permanent installations at venues such as the Towada Art Center and the Wacoal New Kyoto Building. Light-ups have become established events that brighten up winter nights, and are held in a variety of locations. The Hakone Open-Air Museum distinguishes itself by incorporating outdoor sculptures into its illuminations. Participants can also borrow free paper lanterns to explore the sculpture garden at night. Their movements change color in response to the illuminated sculptures and scenery they encounter, creating a nightscape. It's a magical experience, as if drawing on light in the outdoor exhibition space at night.

A pre-event, "Make Fruits of Light with Kyota!" will be held on October 27th and 28th. Participants are invited to freely draw a smiley face inside the circle drawn by Kyota Takahashi on a fruit bag. The fruit they create will be illuminated with a small LED and displayed at the museum entrance during the main event. While the pre-event is free for visitors, a separate admission fee is required. The first 300 elementary and junior high school students to attend the pre-event will receive a "Come Now" ticket. One person can enter the museum free of charge during the illumination period.
During the event, the illumination venue will be open until 6:00 PM. This year, an admission fee has been set for the illumination, allowing visitors to enjoy the illumination alone.

This year, there will be more illuminated sculptures than last year, and new attractions will be added, such as the "Fruits of Light" created by visitors at a pre-event. Why not experience the night view that is created through the participation of each and every person?
