The 6th Aoyama Bread Festival brings together sandwiches from around the world, as well as a bakery and Onibasu coffee

May 29, 2015

The 6th Aoyama Bread Festival—An Early Summer Bread Picnic—will be held on May 30th and 31st in front of the United Nations University in Shibuya, Tokyo, featuring over 40 bakeries. Food and drink booths offering sandwiches from around the world will be available.

The Aoyama Bread Festival, which began in November 2013, is now in its sixth year. This year's theme is "Early Summer Bread Picnic," and the festival will feature sandwich booths from around the world, created by artisans inspired by breads and their flavors. The event will also feature a bread oven. Visitors can place their favorite bread in the oven and enjoy freshly baked bread. Additionally, on May 31st only, Gunma Prefecture's "Hakkojo" and Tokyo's "Kuumba du Farafel" will be hosting bread-baking demonstrations. In addition to bread, a wide selection of "bread accompaniments" will also be available, including coffee, wine, cheese, jam, and honey.

A limited edition bread set, a regular feature of the Aoyama Bread Festival, will also be available. Three types of bread will be available: a "Delicious Bread Selected by Food Professionals" set in collaboration with the magazine "Ryouri Tsushin," a "Bread Stories Connected by Levain" set made by artisans who have worked at or have connections with Levain, the leading homemade natural yeast bread manufacturer in Japan, and a "Delicious Bread and Coffee Set" in collaboration with ONIBUS COFFEE, based in Okusawa, Tokyo.
