Chandelier artist Kim Songhe and Sho Toyama of ATELIER matic, who specializes in spatial design, are holding an exhibition titled "Moral Tone." The exhibition will run from September 8th to 30th at Gallery MUVEIL in Aoyama, Tokyo.

Following the critically acclaimed "As it is" exhibition held last November, the second edition of this exhibition has been decided.
Kim Songhe is a chandelier artist who works on spatial displays and product designs, providing works for companies and brands both in Japan and overseas. In 2016, he published "TROPHY" and held the highly acclaimed exhibition "Trophy" at Laforet Harajuku. Sho Toyama is a spatial designer whose work includes the dried flower specialty store "EW.Pharmacy" and the window displays of PARCO. While continuing to create experimental works such as art pieces using acrylic and resin and spatial installations using light, he also works on a variety of design projects, including exhibition venue design and store fixture design. Based on the theme of MUVEIL's 2018 Fall/Winter collection, "LADIES AND GENTLEMAN," this exhibition features two evolving artists who have taken the "elegance" of 1940s actress Lizabeth Scott's silver screen image and presented their own art pieces. Visitors can experience firsthand the two artists' creations, which are overflowing with "moral tone."

Kim Seong-hye presented "The World Reflected in Us," a work in which she mirror-coated scrap wood and other parts and wrapped them in soft, cloud-like lanterns. In today's world, where we are bombarded with endless information, even things we don't want to see, she conveys the message, "Don't blame others, don't turn your eyes away," while also expressing her wish to "envelop people in a soft embrace, helping them live strong, kind lives."

Meanwhile, Sho Toyama will be showcasing art pieces crafted from marble, in addition to his new acrylic works.
Toyama personally selected the stones, using everything from familiar gems to rarer specimens. To maximize the stone's appeal, he sometimes polished the surface, sometimes leaving its ruggedness intact, expressing its inherent beauty and strength.
In addition, his acrylic objet d'art pieces incorporate antique parts to encapsulate time and history, expressing the "stopping of beauty and time." He showcased his craftsmanship, breathing new life into objects. In addition to works that have evolved since last year, the exhibition will feature works themed around the connection between the world trapped inside acrylic and the outside world.

In addition, exclusive MUVEIL items will be available to coincide with the exhibition. The two artists will each interpret the theme of the exhibition, Lisabeth Scott, in their own way. Kim Seong-hye's theme of "mirrors" and Toyama's themes of "acrylic," "animals," "dwarfs," and "apples" will be linked to the animated film "Snow White," a story of a great farewell, to create a T-shirt inspired by the theme. A cute charm (3,800 yen) will also be released as a limited edition item.

During the exhibition, Kim Seong-hye will also be holding a workshop. Participants will be able to create a trophy to give themselves, with the message, "Praise yourself more!" Using the mirrors featured in this exhibition as parts, participants can create their own custom trophies from an assortment of designs.
