
Actress Natalie Portman was born in Israel on June 9, 1981. She moved to the United States at the age of three. At age ten, she was scouted as a model, but developed an interest in acting and decided to pursue a career. She made her debut in 1994, when she was selected from over 2,000 candidates to play the heroine, Malchida, in Luc Besson's film "Léon," attracting worldwide attention. She then played Padmé Amidala in the "Star Wars" series, which began in 1999, and appeared in the three subsequent films. She won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Closer" in 2004. She achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe Award for her role in "Black Swan" in 2010. In her personal life, she is fluent in six languages and is a Harvard University graduate. In December 2010, she became engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied, with whom she co-starred in Black Swan. She gave birth to her first child in June 2011.
Since 2011, she has been the advertising model for Christian Dior's perfume, Miss Dior. In March of this year, a promotional film directed by Sofia Coppola was released.
