Soya Asae Exhibition "Color of the Universe" will be held at the Contemporary Art Gallery of Art Tower Mito from July

Jun 10, 2013

The Contemporary Art Gallery of Art Tower Mito will host "Sorairo" (Color of the Cosmos), a work by the up-and-coming young artist Asae Soya. The exhibition runs from July 27th to October 27th.
This exhibition will comprehensively display approximately 25 paintings, ranging from her most representative works to new works, as well as her first video installation, "Sora." Animations are projected onto a floating sphere of mirrors, reflecting throughout the exhibition room, creating a space where visitors feel as if they are floating through a forest of colors. Also featured are approximately 45 drawings, created in a variety of media in conjunction with her diverse practice, which ranges from paintings to installations and videos. The exhibition is designed to trace the artist's flow of thought.
Asae Soya won various art awards while studying at the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School, and has garnered attention for her paintings of everyday objects and unexpected scenes from everyday life. In recent years, she has expanded her activities to include installations and public art.
