Lily Cole, a model and actress known for her commitment to environmental conservation, has launched a limited-edition jewelry collection as part of the Sky Rainforest Rescue project, for which she serves as a goodwill ambassador. The project, a joint venture between the British broadcaster Sky and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), aims to protect the Amazon rainforest. The jewelry is made from natural rubber, extracted using traditional methods from rubber trees in the northwestern Brazilian state of Ekre. This region once thrived as a major rubber producer, but with the rise of cheap synthetic and cultivated rubber, it has declined and the forests have suffered significant damage. The collection's purpose is to highlight the value of natural rubber, thereby halting the destruction of the rainforest and promoting its regeneration. Lily Cole herself visited the region and experienced the natural rubber manufacturing process.
The collection consists of items such as pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings, with prices ranging from 10 to 25 pounds (approximately 1,500 to 3,800 yen). All profits will be used to regenerate rainforests and local industries. Lily herself wore the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's gala party held in New York in May. It was released exclusively on stylistpick.com from June 3rd but quickly sold out.
