Yusuke Takahashi, winner of the Soen Prize, is appointed as the new designer of Issey Miyake Men. The collection will be unveiled in Paris in June.

ISSEY MIYAKE MEN has announced that Yusuke Takahashi will be its new designer, starting with the Spring/Summer 2014 season. Takahashi's debut collection will be unveiled on June 27th during Paris Men's Fashion Week. Takahashi, 27, was born in Tokyo in 1985. After graduating from Tamagawa University's College of Art, he graduated from the Fashion Design course at Bunka Fashion Graduate University's Department of Fashion Creation in 2010. While still a student, he received the 83rd Soen Award in 2009, selected by former ISSEY MIYAKE designer Naoki Takizawa, for his WHOLEGARMENT knitwear. After completing graduate school, he joined Miyake Design Office and participated in Issey Miyake's design research and development project, "Reality Lab." He has been a member of the ISSEY MIYAKE MEN design team since 2012. ISSEY MIYAKE's men's collections have been presented alongside its women's collections since 1976, and the brand became an independent men's brand in 1978. He has been presenting his collections independently at Paris Men's Fashion Week since 1985. From Spring/Summer 2012, the brand name was changed to "ISSEY MIYAKE MEN," and the design team has been in charge of production for the past two years.
