Beautiful People's Kumakiri Hidenori tells a love story set in Paris [2018-19 Fall/Winter Women's Collection]

Mar 12, 2018

On March 7th, the final day of Paris Fashion Week, beautiful people presented their Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection. This marked their third time presenting a collection in Paris, but this season marked their first time holding a show. A special venue with a pure white runway was set up near the Grand Palais, where Chanel held its show that morning. Like a sequel to last season's "MAKE LOVE" love story, this season's theme was "Chance Encounter," and bias-cut clothing depicted the encounter and interaction between a man and a woman. Outerwear in particular was abundant, spanning a wide range of styles, including swastika coats, trench coats, rider jackets, tailored suits, and ponchos. While originating from menswear, the diagonal bias cut emphasizes both restraint and freedom, elevating the silhouette and elevating the feminine silhouette. The beautiful, fluid drapes of dresses and skirts resembling a single blanket, dresses with twisted diagonal lines, and long pleated skirts were all emphasized by bias cutting. Various opposing elements, such as straight lines and curves, layering knits on knits, and reversible designs, were fused through bias cutting to create exquisite harmony.

Although at first glance the collection may appear classic and simple, it was comprised of extremely complex patterns, showcasing the exceptional skills of Kumakiri Hidenori, who has honed his experience as a pattern maker. These high-quality clothes, based on a "craftsmanship" that is so exquisite that it will pique your curiosity and make you want to dig deeper into the details, rather than being satisfied with just a few seconds on the runway. We look forward to seeing how the love story Kumakiri is weaving in Paris unfolds.
