The "Do as you like" Miu Miu Girl [Women's Fall/Winter 2018-19]

Mar 12, 2018

Miuccia Prada's Miu Miu collection, presented at the Palais de Jena (Economic, Social and Environmental Conference Center), was a showcase for its Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection. Countless graphic prints by the Paris design unit M/M hung from the ceiling, creating an art installation-like atmosphere. Actress Elle Fanning made her catwalk debut in the show's first look. Models sporting beehive hairstyles, evoking a '60s to '80s bad boy vibe, strutted with melancholy eyes in oversized coats and blousons. Elle Fanning also made her catwalk debut in this show. Not only were the pieces oversized, but they also featured gathered fabric on the back and shoulders, adding volume to the overall look. Gatherings were also used on jacquard and floral print dresses, creating body-conscious silhouettes reminiscent of the 1950s.

There were more highlights than usual, including a rough tweed blouson, washed leather items seen in previous seasons, and a dress printed with typography by M/M (Paris).

Unnecessarily deep slits revealing shorts and delicate stiletto heels that look as if they might break create a startling effect. Miuccia Prada's unique power is perhaps responsible for her twisting femininity to create a sense of instability that becomes irresistible.
