Artist Soichi Yamaguchi, discovered by Takashi Murakami, joins DKNY global campaign

Jun 25, 2013

DKNY launched its new campaign, "#DKNYArtworks," in June in 10 cities: New York, Paris, London, Milan, Dubai, Kuwait City, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Tokyo. Artists and photographers from each country created artworks based on the brand's giant logo, which hung on Houston Street in New York's Soho district from 1992 to 2008. The Japanese artist participating in the campaign is Soichi Yamaguchi, who won the Gold Prize at Takashi Murakami's "GEISAI #9" exhibition while studying at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Each artwork appears on outdoor advertising platforms, including giant billboards, street advertisements, projection media, and bus wraps. In Tokyo, the artworks are displayed at the brand's flagship store on Cat Street in Harajuku and on billboards in Shibuya. The artworks will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Free Arts NYC, a nonprofit organization supporting children and families affected by abuse and neglect. Bidding is open until June 29th on the auction site Paddle8.

A party to celebrate the campaign's launch was held in London on the 12th. London-born model Cara Delevingne hosted the event, and Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea performed live.
