Promoting and preserving craftsmanship is essential to Jimmy Choo, and Buaiso is dedicated to the traditional indigo dyeing technique. Buaiso is a globally renowned indigo producer, specializing in everything from natural indigo cultivation and the production of sukumo (a type of dye) to dyeing and finishing. Based in Kamiita, Tokushima Prefecture, a center of indigo production from the Edo period to the present day, the town's historical significance and the natural beauty of indigo-dyed fabrics served as inspiration for this stunning collection.

The beauty of indigo dyeing is that the more you use it, the more its character develops, and you can enjoy the changing texture over time. Furthermore, the time-consuming and laborious production process is conveyed to customers who hold the pieces in their hands, allowing them to care for and enjoy the changes that occur. "Items that can be mass-produced are quickly consumed. We want to create products that can be used every day, for years to come," says Buaisou's representative, Kaji.

To complete this exclusive capsule collection, approximately 160 meters of recycled cotton fabric was hand-dyed in the Kamiita workshop and shipped to Jimmy Choo's Italian factory, where artisans transformed it into beautiful, one-of-a-kind shoes, handbags, and accessories.

[ABOUT BUAISOU]
Kamiita Town in Tokushima Prefecture, blessed with a warm climate and abundant water that is ideal for growing indigo, the raw material for indigo dye, has been a thriving indigo production area since the Edo period and is now the largest indigo producer in Japan. Buaisou was founded in 2015 by young people who moved to the town after becoming fascinated by indigo. Along with founder Kakuro Kaji, the company is run by a total of six people, including indigo masters, dyers, and managers. In order to realize Buaiso's theme of "making products that can be used for a long time," the company cultivates natural indigo and produces sukumo (a plant used as dye), and is involved in all processes from dyeing to design and finishing.
