Maison Kitsuné's new shop opens in Kyoto, selling limited edition items made with traditional indigo dyeing

Oct 7, 2017

MAISON KITSUNÉ's fifth store in Japan, MAISON KITSUNÉ Kyoto, opened on October 7th at Fujii Daimaru, a long-established department store originating in Kyoto.

The store, which is the first in the Kansai region to carry a full lineup including both women's and men's collections, was designed by the brand's founder and creative director, Gildas Loaëc, and Masaya Kuroki. The interior, based on warm wood, features striking brass gold accents and indigo wallpaper, evoking a sophisticated Japanese aesthetic. Iconic fox motifs scattered throughout add a playful touch.
Oxford Shirt (¥32,000)

To celebrate the opening, a limited-edition collection inspired by Kyoto's traditional indigo dyeing craft will be on sale. The brand's signature items, such as the Oxford shirt (32,000 yen) and graphic T-shirt (18,000 yen), are dyed one by one by hand using the traditional Kyoto technique of "natural lye fermented indigo dyeing," using 100% natural materials. Each piece has a different texture, and the exclusive collection will be available in limited quantities (15 pieces in total) at MAISON KITSUNÉ Kyoto.
