The annual Paris music festival, "Fête de la Musique" (Music Festival), held every June, took place on the 21st, and Paris City Hall selected the restaurant "guiloguilo" (8, rue Garreau, 75018 Paris) as the most exciting party in the 18th arrondissement. This event allows people to drink and party in the streets of Paris without worrying about volume, even late at night. Now in its third year, "guiloguilo" is a branch of Kyoto's "Giro Gilo," which opened in Montmartre in 2008. The restaurant, designed by Christophe Pillet, has garnered acclaim for its "kuzushi kappo" (traditional Japanese cuisine) style by owner-chef Eiichi Edakuni, making it a popular restaurant with reservations that are hard to get. This year's "Fête de la Musique" featured DJs Towa Tei, Ko Kimura, VJ Hiro Sugiyama, and Daruma Shoten from Japan. The party continued from 7 PM until dawn, attracting over 1,000 visitors. Towa Tei tweeted, "To make Edakuni's ambition come true, I went to France again this year with VJ Hiro Sugiyama, hoping to win an award. Paris City Hall announced that we won first place in the 18th arrondissement. Second place went to the French national radio party. I'm so happy they invited me." The menu included sake, assorted sushi, edamame beans, and takoyaki, all priced at 5 euros. After the party, the store was littered with edamame pods, and the owner apologized on his blog, saying that next year they'll need bags to store them. Body painting by the Kyoto-based artist group Daruma Shoten, who held a solo exhibition at the store in conjunction with the event, also proved popular.
