"Tokyo Midtown Candle Night - TOKYO 2020 Fun Promises," an environmental awareness event, will be held for four days from June 20th to June 23rd. This year, marking the fifth anniversary of the event, the event is being held in collaboration with the "Fun Promises Project," run by Yahoo! and Gree, with the theme of Tokyo's bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The "Fun Promises Project" features gold medalists Homare Sawa, Saori Yoshida, and Ryota Murata, as well as celebrities such as Tokyo Governor Naoki Inose, Terry Ito, Downtown's Masatoshi Hamada, and economic analyst Takuro Morinaga. This year, in collaboration with the project's website, approximately 3,000 message candles inscribed with "what you would do if Tokyo were selected to host the games" will be arranged in the shape of a giant cherry blossom wreath and lit simultaneously within Tokyo Midtown.
Messages to be written on the candles are being collected from the general public at a special booth inside Tokyo Midtown until the 23rd.
