The food floor of Matsuzakaya Nagoya store has completed a major renovation that has been opening in stages since March, and will hold its grand opening on the 19th. The final zone, opening on the 12th and 19th, will see the debut of a total of 29 brands, centered around the Long-established and Famous Stores Zone, which further enhances the gift zone, a long-standing strength, and the Japanese sweets zone, which will feature brands from around Japan and Nagoya for the first time, creating Nagoya's premier food zone, "Gochisou Paradise," with 153 brands.
The Long-established and Famous Stores Zone will see the new openings of "Murasakino Wakuden," a gift shop run by a long-established Kyoto restaurant, and "Shinso," a tsukudani shop from Osaka, bringing the total to 18 brands. The Japanese sweets zone will see the Nagoya debut of Azabu Karinto, a popular candy shop with long lines, and the national debut of Beans Lab An, a shop selling fresh morning sweets such as ohagi. Other new openings include Nagoya's Yoshiimo, a specialty sweet potato confectionery store; Mangetsu, a Japanese confectionery store selling Ajari mochi; Fukusaya, a castella cake shop; and Ogurasanso, a Kyoto specialty shop for okaki (rice crackers) and senbei (rice crackers). The prepared food section will see the opening of Tofu Kaiseki Kusumura, a newly opened store. The floor will be designed with a maximum width of approximately 2.4 meters, running north, south, east, and west, allowing for thorough movement throughout the entire area. The central elevated section of the basement floor of the main building has been removed, and the in-store kitchen has been centralized in the rear facility, improving visibility. The number of free refrigerated coin lockers has also doubled to 32, and almost all stores have installed spaces in front of the product shelves where customers can place their luggage when paying. More luggage storage tables and resting chairs have also been added.
To make shopping smoother, customers can pay for items in the fresh fish/sushi, vegetables/fruit, meat, and grocery sections all at once at any of the three registers within the store. "Gochisou Paradise Attendants" have also been installed to provide guidance within Gochisou Paradise and provide porter service for purchased and carried items. From the 19th to the 21st, the "Gochisou Paradise Tasting Team" will be appearing, where staff who are familiar with the flavors of each store will hold tasting events that transcend brand boundaries.
