d47 MUSEUM, a museum themed around Japan's 47 prefectures located on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, will be holding its 19th special exhibition, "47 People of Nippon 2017: Future Lifestyles - Off-Grid Life," from August 3rd to October 9th. The exhibition explores future lifestyle standards by introducing one person from each of the 47 prefectures who practices diverse lifestyles related to housing, food, energy, work styles, distribution, and urban development. The curators are Masafumi Goto, vocalist and guitarist of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and editor-in-chief of THE FUTURE TIMES, a newspaper that considers our future, including the new era and society of the future; lifestyle adventurer Naeko Ito; and architect Masayoshi Takeuchi. Exhibitors include Tatemichi Mineo of POMPON CAKES from Kanagawa, Koshida Hideyuki of Koshida Shoten from Ibaraki, Iwano Hibiki of HORIZON LABO from Gunma, Tanaka Tatsuyuki of Tsubame Coffee from Niigata, Iwase Takami of Mori, Michi, Ichiba from Aichi, and fermentation designer Ogura Hiraku from Yamanashi.
In addition, as a related event, the creative space "8/ (Hachi)" on the same floor will be hosting "SHIBUYA WANDERING CRAFT 2017 ECO," which will run until August 29th, and will bring together activists from all over the country who are thinking about what society really needs and what true happiness means to people as the problems of global warming and resource depletion become more serious.
For example, until September 5th, there will be an event called "Learning about Living Through the Outdoors" where you can buy outdoor products that allow you to enjoy food and play by making creative use of limited resources and tools, and from August 8th to September 4th, in conjunction with the "Future Lifestyle" exhibition, there will be a "d47 Shokudo Drink Menu Born from 'Future Lifestyle'" where you can enjoy a special menu that teaches you about eco-friendliness in a delicious way, such as sencha tea made with tea leaves grown on revitalized abandoned farmland, and from August 18th to 29th, there will be an event called "hello ECOsperience" which introduces three small businesses with the theme of learning about the background behind the creation of products and reconsidering how we interact with things.
