The best way to find out what's truly delicious is to ask the locals! We asked producers from Champagne houses visiting Japan from France for their recommendations on local restaurants at Isetan Shinjuku's "Noël à la Mode - Champagne Festival" (November 19th to 24th), an annual event coveted by Champagne fans. From three-star Michelin restaurants to local favorites, we introduce 11 restaurants recommended by food professionals who are themselves producers and have an extraordinary sense of how to enjoy their food.
"My top recommendation is Le Millesime. If you're enjoying champagne here, I recommend ordering the scallop main course. It pairs perfectly with the delicate flavors of the bottle. Le Jardin des Crayeres is also excellent. Starting next year, our champagne will be available there, so if you have the chance to visit France, be sure to stop by." (Maison Leroux et Fils/Sébastien Mauzon)
"The first place you should visit in France is Le Jardin des Crayeres. You can enjoy the marriage of traditional French cuisine and champagne. I also recommend La Maison de la Truffe, a high-end truffle specialty store. Truffles and champagne are a fantastic combination, so I recommend you try them at least once." (Laurent-Perrier/Guillaume Payard) "I would recommend Jardin des Crayères to everyone in Japan. The chef's wife is Japanese, so if you have a chance to talk to her, why not ask her about local recommended spots? In Paris, I recommend Guy Savoy and L'Apege in the 7th arrondissement. L'Apege is less than a 30-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, so it's a great place to stop by while sightseeing. Of course, they also have our champagne. Their foie gras mille-feuille goes perfectly with our Cuvée Louis, so I recommend enjoying them together!" (Tarlant/Benoît Tarlant)

"I recommend L'Assiette Champenoise in Reims (a county and city in the Marne department in the Champagne-Ardenne region in northern France). It was awarded three Michelin stars in 2014 and is very popular locally. They sometimes stock our champagne there, and if you're going to enjoy our champagne there, I recommend the rosé. It pairs perfectly with their fondant au chocolat." (Olivier Marteau/Olivier Marteau) "First of all, L'Achette Champinoise. The food created by this three-star Michelin chef is amazing! Of course, they also stock our champagne. I recommend pairing Rufin et Fils Chardonnay with fresh fish, and Rufin et Fils Nobilis with foie gras or spiny lobster. I also recommend the Chardonnay as an aperitif!" (Rufin et Fils/Alexandre Rufin)
"My vote goes to La Briqueterie. If you want to enjoy champagne, pair it with white fish dishes or terrines. Do you like French cuisine? Our cuvée goes well with foie gras and lobster, so be sure to give it a try." (Vadin Plateau/Yann Vadin)

"My recommendation is David Toutain. I love discovering new restaurants and talented young chefs. Whenever I hear about a great restaurant, I always head over straight away. David was born in the 1980s and is still very young, but he is also good at coming up with exquisite pairings of sauces and champagne. Champagne is a very delicate drink, so depending on the sauce, it can sometimes be half-dead delicious, but his cooking is the exact opposite. It really enhances the appeal of champagne! I recommend you try the marriage of champagne with white fish in a light sauce." (Boizel/Evelyne Roque-Boizel)

"Valentino in Troyes (a city in the Champagne-Ardennes region in northern France) is the best. It's a restaurant that's proud of the Champagne region. I'd be happy if my champagne could be served there someday. It's the ultimate organic wine, and Japanese customers have praised it for being a great match with sushi!
The rosé in particular goes great with raw fish, so be sure to give it a try." (Eric Schreiber/Gaëlle Schreiber)

"Pairing champagne with meals has become popular in France recently. If you want to experience the latest in champagne, try Restaurant Lasserre. "I think Lasserre would be a good choice. They serve the most delicious seasonal produce, so it's best to leave it to the chef to decide which dishes to pair with champagne. The great thing about champagne is that it goes well with both savory and sweet foods." (Champagne Monial/Emmanuel Caron)

"My recent favorite is La Dame de pic, where a female three-star chef shows off her skills. She's a very glamorous person. Not only is she a great cook, but she's also good at promoting herself, so I think she'll become even more famous in the future. She's already getting a lot of attention, though. After all, she's a chef known as the queen of gastronomy (the study of the relationship between food and culture), so I'm sure she's come up with all kinds of ideas to make champagne taste even better."
