Leather goods brand MAISON TAKUYA unveiled its 2015 Spring/Summer collection. Designer Francois Russo personally visited Japan for the exhibition, held in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. The venue, designed like an art exhibition, featured a lineup of classic bags and accessories, as well as numerous new pieces. The "Tina-T," designed with the theme of "city woman," is a stylish bag for women to carry around town. Despite its compact size, it features a wide gusset and an interior pocket. Another distinctive feature is that the zipper teeth are hidden from view from the front. Two new styles have been added to the sky blue and sand beige two-tone "PlatinumX Skyblue." The "PlatinumX Skyblue Backpack" features a bold, oversized zipper on the exterior as a design accent, while also allowing for easy access to the contents. The "PlatinumX Skyblue Bodybag" is a compact, flat bag that feels as if you're not even holding it.
New items in the camouflage-patterned "Camouflage Dark Natural Series" include a two-way shoulder bag and a tote bag with accentuated patterns. The all-camouflage tote bag also features a print on the inside. This print is created by injecting pigment with a needle, like a tattoo. Russo explained, "We want our customers to use our products for a long time, and we never want them to regret their purchase (in terms of quality)."
Additionally, the "GSC Titanium Grey Men's Bags" series, aimed at stylish businessmen, features new items with jade accents. The lineup includes items made primarily from shrunken calfskin leather from Germany's Perlinger, as well as A-grade goat leather, wild crocodile leather, and ostrich leather. Rosso believes that "true craftsmanship is achieved by being involved in every step of the manufacturing process," and says, "The world is already overflowing with products, but now more than ever, it's important to select truly high-quality items." He also stated his aspirations for his brand, saying, "I want to develop it into a luxury brand that will be passed down for at least 300 years. I intend to continue creating products that appeal to all five senses." He also plans to expand his women's line in the future. Maison Takuya products are currently available in 17 countries around the world, including Japan, France, Switzerland, Singapore, and South Korea, and are sold in high-end stores such as Colette and Bergdorf Goodmans. In Japan, they are sold at Hankyu Men's Tokyo and Osaka, and at Isetan Men's. The wallets were featured on TV Tokyo's popular program "My Dandyism," and inquiries have increased.
