
A pop-up store for YuumiARIA, which sells one-of-a-kind clothing made from remade secondhand clothes, has opened at Center Park/The Stage #3 on the 3rd floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. It will be open until July 15th.
YumiARIA is a brand created by Yumi Suzuki, who was the designer of NUMBER(N)INE's women's line, Nine (9). In 2007, she launched her predecessor, ARIA, as a brand that remade secondhand and vintage clothing, and launched a collection line in 2011SS. Launched in 2014SS, YuumiARIA sells remade items and is a limited line sold exclusively at Isetan Restyle Plus. The shop, which is modeled after Suzuki's room, offers a cut-and-sew top featuring a vintage printed T-shirt with ruffle details, a two-way skirt made from four paisley-print scarves (32,000 yen), a sweatshirt parka available in both compact and oversized sizes (small 26,000 yen, large 27,000 yen), and a hair turban made from a repurposed scarf (5,000 yen). A new version of the popular skirt (27,000 yen) made from a vintage sweatshirt and flannel shirt, which had been out of stock in stores, will also be released to coincide with the pop-up. All of these items were requested by Isetan, with Suzuki providing the details, and are made in collaboration with Isetan. Suzuki will be visiting the store on the 12th for an event from 12 noon to 6:00 pm, where custom orders will be accepted. The tunic dress is based on a vintage sweatshirt pullover, with your choice of flannel shirt, denim, or striped sweatshirt material added to the hem, and you can also add elbow pads, pockets, and sleeve fringe to your liking. It costs 24,000 yen and will be delivered in about three weeks. Reservations have already been taken, mainly from customers, but orders are also being taken in-store.
The buyer in charge commented, "We have a range of items, from midsummer items like remade T-shirts that can be worn right away, to long flannel shirts and hoodies that can be worn in the fall too. We hope to be able to respond to the voices of customers who say that it's hard to find what they want at this time of year."
