The Isetan Shinjuku store is hosting the "Hola Espana!" exhibition, an event showcasing Spanish food and culture, in the 6th floor event hall until July 7th. Among the approximately 30 participating brands, we've selected two highly recommended shops. The first is "El Bigote," selling the classic Spanish dish, paella. In addition to four flavors, including Iberian pork and curry, the store also offers a variety of Spanish home-style dishes, including "Marinated Sardines" (648 yen) and "Shrimp and Broccoli Ajillo" (756 yen). The most popular item is the "Seafood Paella" (1,080 yen), piled high with seafood, including shrimp, squid, and clams. The flavor of the tomato and olive oil-infused fluffy rice infused with the seafood creates a delicious, lingering taste. Both dishes are available for takeout, freshly prepared on-site. The second store is "Original Churros," opening its first store in Japan. Spain, the birthplace of churros, has many specialty shops, and it's common to eat them while walking. In Spanish cafes, churros are served as a set with hot chocolate, and even in summer, they're enjoyed with hot chocolate. At this store, churros are fried in olive oil, frozen, air-shipped, and reheated in an oven in Japan (in-store), recreating the texture of freshly fried churros. There are two types: star-shaped churros with a rich sugar coating and a crispy texture, and round churros with a chewy, fried bread-like texture. During the event, chef Rafael Jurado, visiting from Barcelona, Spain, will serve freshly prepared churros. The adjacent eat-in space also offers the "Churros & Chocolate Set" (1,188 yen), which includes two freshly fried churros and a chocolate drink. This rich, lightly sweet chocolate drink is available in two flavors: hot or iced.
