A talk show at Daikanyama Tsutaya passionately discussing the appeal of Levi's 501s. Learn how to identify them and how to care for them.

Mar 13, 2015

A talk show titled "TALK ABOUT 501(R) XX Jeans" will be held at Daikanyama T-Site on April 3rd.

This event commemorates the release of the Levi's 501 photo book "THE 501(R) XX A COLLECTION OF VINTAGE JEANS" (10,000 yen). Yutaka Fujiwara of BerBerJin and Naoki Kawamata of Smiley, the vintage clothing shops that oversaw the book, will be appearing at the event. They will introduce the highlights of the photo book and behind-the-scenes stories of its production. They will also explain how to identify and care for vintage 501s, making for a lively discussion of jeans.

The photo book, which will be released on March 28th, covers the complete history of the 501, from the earliest model in 1890 to its evolution as workwear and the changes made during World War II. Through 51 pairs of vintage jeans, visitors can look back on the history of the 501, from its earliest model in 1890 to its evolution as workwear and the changes made during World War II.

This photo book was conceived by Fujiwara Yutaka of BerBerJin, who has seen tens of thousands of pairs of denim over the years. Kawamata, who is also a collector of 501(R) XX from the buckleback era, has added text based on his extensive knowledge.
