Liberty prints are the focus for SS13, with a floral collaboration between Fred Perry, Levi's, and Dr. Martens

May 23, 2013

This season, the trend toward returning to nature continues. Floral prints and botanical motifs are a hot topic, and Liberty prints and collaboration items are appearing in stores one after another ahead of summer.

FRED PERRY has released a capsule collection featuring polo shirts and dresses in custom fabrics and colors from the British company Liberty.

Levi's has also collaborated with Liberty to create a women's collection. The lineup includes 15 styles, including 501 shorts and boyfriend skinny jeans. For this collection, Liberty's design studio created two limited-edition patterns inspired by archives from the 1940s and 1970s.

Dr. Martens' floral print collection is themed around "Wild Nature." The bird and berry pattern is a reference to "The Strawberry Thief," created by British textile designer William Morris in 1883. The floral pattern "Martens Flowers", which was created in 1930, is a rare design that had rarely been in circulation until then.

Liberty is a department store that opened in London in 1875 as a shop selling decorative items and fabrics. The small floral pattern created by the company is known as "Liberty Print", and is still popular today as a material for interior decor and clothing.
